MPN
Sign your Electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN)
Before federal loan money can be disbursed, the borrower must complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN). The MPN is available on the Department of Education's website. Once signed, the note is good for multiple years with a few exceptions.
Different versions of the MPN are available for the following loans:
- Federal Direct Stafford Loan (Subsidized and Unsubsidized)
- Federal Direct Grad PLUS Loan
- Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan
- Federal Perkins Loan
How to complete your MPN
Direct Loans (Stafford, Grad PLUS, Parent PLUS)
For Direct Loans go to www.studentloans.gov. Be sure to specify the type of loan you are signing for, as signing for the wrong loan will delay processing. If you have both subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford Loans, you only need to complete one Stafford MPN.
Perkins Loan
Since the Perkins Loan is a campus-based program, Federal Perkins Loan Master Promissory Notes are available in StuInfo.
