Academic and Financial Counseling
Freshmen and sophomores on academic probation may lose eligibility for Stafford Loan unless they take the actions listed below.
The MSU Office of Financial Aid (OFA) sends email to freshmen and sophomores who are on academic probation and who have been offered Stafford Loan, directing them to complete online counseling in order to maintain Stafford eligibility.
If you were notified, you must complete the online counseling by the deadline or any temporary credit (pending aid) you received for Stafford Loans will be cancelled.
The deadline is March 2 to complete the counseling for spring semester 2008.
You must complete BOTH steps to maintain your Stafford eligibility.

If you were directed to complete the counseling and are unable to log in to either link, please contact the Office of Financial Aid (OFA). If you were not notified, then you do not need to participate in the counseling.
You must also comply with your college or UUD’s probation requirements to be eligible to continue your enrollment at MSU, even if you choose not to borrow Federal Stafford Loan. Freshmen & sophomores should contact the UUD office at (517) 355-3515 with any questions. If you have reached junior class status, please contact the academic advisor in your college with any questions.
